Triggers can be a useful tool in your site to automate actions that you wish to occur. For example, sending emails, or moving submissions through the site. This documentation will explain the basic steps of creating a trigger in your site.
NOTE: Triggers do not fire retroactively within the site, therefore if the activation has already occurred for a submission prior to the submission being created or edited, then the trigger will not fire for that submission until the activation occurs again.
- Click Configure your site
- Go to Triggers
- Click New Trigger
- Add a Title to your Trigger
TIP! Make the title as clear as possible to get a better understanding of its purpose. For example, "Move to: Review Stage" or "Email: Awarded Applications" - Select the Activation dropdown and select the Activation based on when the trigger should fire.
i. Depending on the activation you select, additional options will be available, such as selecting a specific task in the site. - Click Set Trigger Activation
- Optional: Set Conditions to determine who the trigger should fire for.
- Set the Action to determine what should happen when the trigger fires.
- Optional: Determine any additional Trigger Behaviour you wish to apply
- Activate your trigger so that it will fire when the Activation occurs.
- Click Save Trigger
- Test your trigger to ensure that it is firing correctly within your site.
NOTE: If you are using the trigger to send emails, please refer to our article on How to Send Emails using Triggers
Once you have created a trigger you can still make any changes and adjustments you need to.
To Edit a Trigger:
- Click Configure your site
- Go to Triggers
- Click on the Edit icon beside the trigger
- Optional: Deactivate your trigger so that you can make changes without the trigger firing in the site
- Update the Activation as necessary
- Update the Conditions as necessary
- Update the Actions as necessary
- Activate the trigger if it was deactivated in step 4.
- Click Save Trigger
- Test your trigger to ensure that it is firing correctly within your site.
NOTE: Triggers do not fire retroactively within the site, therefore if the activation has already occurred for a submission prior to the submission being created or edited, then the trigger will not fire for that submission.
